Meditation

Puerto de la Cruz | La Palma

A space to stop, observe and cultivate a more present and conscious mind.

Tushala's Meditation classes are free and open to everyone, whether you have never meditated before or already have an established practice.

In each class we spend an hour exploring and going deeper into one meditation method. Over the course we experiment with different methods, discovering various ways of approaching the practice and finding which ones resonate most with us.

At the beginning of each class we take some time to get to know the method we are going to practise: we explain how it works, where it comes from or what it focuses on when that is relevant, what we are looking to cultivate through it and how we can approach the practice.

Before moving into the meditation, we also include Pranayama and conscious breathing exercises to prepare body and mind, direct our attention inwards and create the right conditions for the practice.

Afterwards, we enter into silence and observation, learning to relate to our thoughts, sensations and emotions without needing to change them or judge them.

It is not about emptying the mind. To meditate is to learn to observe, to recognise where our attention is and, again and again, to return to the present moment.

Each method offers us a different doorway into that space of presence. Through experimentation, you will be able to discover which ones resonate most with you and take these tools off the mat too, into your everyday life.

An hour to pause, breathe, listen to yourself and come back to you.
